1 billion: Brazilian oil production hits record

According to the National Agency for Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), Brazilian oil production soared 7.78% in 2019 and exceeded the 1 billion barrels mark for the first time in history. On the other hand, natural gas production increased 9.46% last year, totaling 44.724 billion cubic meters.

The agency blamed the pre-salt for the production of 633.98 million barrels, in addition to 25.906 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which increased by 21.56% and 23.27% compared to the previous year, respectively.

December also represented a new record in oil production in the country, with a 15.44% increase over the same period in 2018, totaling an average pumping of 3.106 million barrels per day.
