ETIAS for Europe: travel information and authorisation

Today, Brazilian travelers visiting Europe are allowed to enter the Schengen Area for stays of up to 90 days, within a period of 180 days. This is due to the fact that Brazilian citizens are exempt from visas for the Schengen area. The Schengen area includes 22 EU countries and 4 non-EU countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland).

At the moment, the visa for the Schengen Area is not mandatory for Brazilian tourists and travelers have guaranteed entry in all countries mentioned without a visa. However, citizens of Brazil will need to apply online for an ETIAS travel authorization from the end of 2022. ETIAS will be required for Brazilians traveling to Europe for commercial, transit, medical and tourist purposes.

ETIAS is the name given to the new travel authorization to Europe for Brazilian citizens. The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) was designed with a clear objective in mind. Its goal is to strengthen border control and maintain high levels of immigration security throughout the Schengen area, registering and examining all visa-exempt travelers, including Brazilians.
