Round 3 of the pre-salt bids may have three new areas offered

Three new areas of the pre-salt should be offered to the market in November, the 3rd round of oil bids. A list of some suggestions of assets for the next auction has been forwarded by the National Petroleum Agency (ANP). According to João Vicente Vieira, Director of the Department of Exploration and Production of Oil and Gas of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the government's intention is to hold ten bids between 2017 and 2019, with an auction of pre-salt per year.

In an interview with the newspaper Valor Econômico, Vieira said the government's intention is to establish a multi-annual schedule of rounds in the country. However, the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the ANP are keeping secret the areas that will be displayed until the list is approved by the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE). But in previous demonstrations, the Agency said to have at least three options for future rounds: Saturn, Pau Brazil and Peroba.

In addition to the 3rd round of the pre-salt sharing, the government still provides for this year bid fields with marginal accumulations; hold the 14th round of exploratory blocks; and make the auction unitizáveis areas of the Union.

But at the time it is being organized these new auctions, the government also seeks to remedy the difficulties of previous bids. As announced yesterday (March 13) by Panorama Offshore areas in March finished off in the 11th Round blocks of oil and natural gas Exploration, held in 2013, only 5% of the first exploratory phase of the assets has been met and because of these delays, the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) made a recommendation to the ANP to extend the term of the exploration phase of the 11th round.
