According to Ibama, oil already reaches 643 locations

Data updated by Ibama (Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources) reveal that the number of sites affected by oil has already reached 643. Of the nine states of the Northeast, plus Espírito Santo, at least 116 municipalities have been affected by fragments or spots since August 30.

Points with more than 10% contamination are exclusively in Alagoas (3), Bahia (10), Rio Grande do Norte (2) and Sergipe (3). In addition, according to the institute's balance sheet, 18 localities are with oil stains, 363 have fragments of the substance and 262 can already be considered "clean."

Last Sunday, the Federal University of Alagoas (Ufal) reported having identified a ship that could be responsible for the environmental disaster. The vessel would have departed Asia towards Africa, but has not yet had its name and flag released.
