Alaska out oil and gas project

The White House, headquarters of the American Presidency, made an announcement stating that to protect the regional ecosystem and coastal communities, the planning area of Norton Basin and parts of the area, the Northern Bering Sea, Alaska, were withdrawn from the planning of future oil and gas leasing.

However, the five-year leasing plans issued by the Department of the Interior do not include financial leasing plans in those areas dropped, so there is no need to change. The total area where there will be planning amounts to 40,300 square miles.

According to the White House, the space will be leased includes 112,300 square miles and represents a high latitude ocean ecosystems extremely productive, adding one of the largest seasonal migrations of marine mammals of the world, including thousands of whales, hundreds of thousands of walruses, ice seals and migratory bird milhões.
