Ande and Eletrobras wake up power division

Last Friday (13), the Brazilian state, Eletrobras, and Uruguayan Ande, have signed a division agreement for part of the volume and energy price of itaipu’s binational hydroelectric plant by 2022.

According to an official statement released by the administration of the Itaipu, a subsidiary of Eletrobras, “the contracting of power for four years gives greater predictability to the planning of the two purchasing entities and ensures the binational plant the resources needed for its proper operation and, consequently, for stability in the supply of electricity to both countries,” he said.

Also according to the note, the formalization of contracts between the entity and other companies can now be formalized. So far, details of the division remain confidential, but, according to the publication, none of the two countries will have an increase in the energy tariff caused by the agreement.
