ANEEL creates new tariff flag

After speculation regarding the amount that would be given to the new increase in energy tariffs, ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) created a tariff flag, called "water scarcity". The new extra fee that will be of the amount of R $ 14.20 for the consumption of 100 kWh, comes into force today (1º) and will be valid until April 30 next year.

The tariff increase is justified by the worst water crisis faced in the last 91 years, which caused thermal power plants to need to be activated, making the cost of production more expensive. According to the director general of ANEEL, André Pepitone, the creation of the new flag was approved "in view of the existing collection deficit, exceeding R$ 5 billion, and the high costs verified, nodded of thermoelectric generation".
