The National Agency for Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) is expected to authorize about 20 new orders for imports of natural gas to Brazil this year alone. The information is from the superintendent of the municipality, Hélio Bisaggio.
The initiative is being seen as a sign that the New Gas Law, which aims to attract more investors through the decentralization of Petrobras in the sector, has been showing positive results. The new legal framework was approved in April this year.
It is worth remembering that before the new law, the responsibility for the authorization of gas import applications was the Ministry of Mines and Energy. Now the competence belongs to the ANP.
