The National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) infiscalized 13 gas stations in municipalities in the interior of Rio de Janeiro between May 10 and 14. The operation took place in the cities of Bom Jesus do Itabapoana, Itaperuna, Naatividade, Porciúncula, São José de Ubá and Varre-Sai.
Of the seven canister gas (LPG) gas resales inspected by the agency, one of them, in Itaperuna, was banned for supplying the clandestine market. There was also the seizure of three LPG containers in Itaperuna and two resales notified for transporting LPG containers on motorcycles, irregularly: one in São João de Ubá and another in Bom Jesus do Itabapoana.
The establishments fined by the ANP are subject to fines that can range from R$ 20,000 to R$ 5 million, as provided by law. Sanctions are applied only after administrative proceedings, during which the economic agent is entitled to broad defense.
