The proposal to include an area near the Park Fernando de Noronha Marine National in the 17th Block Bidding Round for the exploration and production of oil and natural gas, made by the federal government, has generated criticism from environmentalists and the government of Pernambuco. The area in issue is located in the Potiguar basin.
The matter was discussed by the National Petroleum Agency (ANP), last Wednesday (3). The Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio) issued a technical note pointing out risks of the inclusion of these blocks, because of the proximity to Noronha and the Rocas Atoll Biological Reserve, both of which are natural territories of great marine mobility. The governor of Pernambuco, Paulo Câmara (PSB), said by social networks recognize the technical recommendations.
In turn, the ANP pointed out that despite the ICMBio alert, the conclusions of the technical note "pointed out the environmental sensitivities of the regions considered and mentioned the potential impacts of the activities, but indicated that a definitive evaluation would not be possible due to the absence of more accurate information".ACESSE AS REDES DA PANORAMA OFFSHORE:
