At the initiative of the NGO Revolusolar, Morro da Babilônia, in the South Zone of Rio, will receive the first solar power plant in a favela in Brazil.
The project proposes 58 photovoltaic plates installed on the roof of the Residents Association, which will generate savings of 30% in the electricity bills of 38 families of Babylon and Chapéu Mangueira.
The NGO also launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds and install the solar energy cooperative. The materials for installing the panels will be given by Chinese companies LONGi and GoodWe.
