Bahia stands out with clean energy production

Bahia has led the production of clean energy in the country. Currently the state has 165 wind farms with an installed capacity of 4GW and more than 1,340 wind turbines. In 2019 alone, the state accounted for 31.8% of the wind power production and 33.7% solar energy.

This energy generation was a crucial factor in reducing risk of crisis in the national energy sector. For example, on behalf of all production, the risk of blackouts such as those of 2011 and 2018 was non-existent. More that this today has 43 parks under construction and 40 parks with construction to start, with investment forecast of R$ 8.5 billion and generation 33,900 direct and indirect jobs. By 2025, it is expected that Bahia 6.3 GW power range installed.

For Elbia Gannoum, executive president of the Brazilian Wind Energy (ABEEólica), wind energy has developed in Brazil considerably and Bahia is one of the leading states for this growth: "The exceptional winds of Brazil and, mainly, the Northeastern Brazil took wind power to be today the second of the headquarters electric."
