In the coming months the gas company of Bahia (Bahiagás solutions), will launch the bidding process to bid the construction of the first stretch of the pipeline of Natural gas distribution (Southwest Gas), which will link the cities of Ipiaú/Itagibá to Jequié.
The venture, when constructed, will be the biggest distribution pipeline in the Northeast with about of 300 km long. With contribution of R$ 504,500,000, the project will go through three stages. Being the first in the stretch of Ipiaú/Itagibá to Jequié (R$ 117.5 million); the second Jequié to Maracas (112,300,000) and the third Maracas the Brumado (274.5 million R$). According to information, the works should end in 2020.
Twelve municipalities and other cities in the region are to be benefited with the development.
