BNDES wants to privatize gas companies

The Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES) gave the kickoff to privatize two State companies of distribution of natural gas, the gas company of Mato Grosso do Sul (MSGás) and the company of Pernambuco (Copergás), publishing the notices for hiring consultants who will work on the structure and implementation of the privatization.

According to statement, the services to be contracted with the consulting will be to economic and financial assessment, study of alternatives to the regulatory model in the industry, modeling of the process of privatization, legal and communication, among others.

The action is part of the investment Partnership program that has support from BNDES and includes the privatization of the State and Union of States. In addition to the Mato Grasso and Pernambuco, five other Brazilian States have shown interest of desestatizar natural gas companies: Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Espírito Santo, Rio Grande do Norte and Paraíba.
