Brazil could get 1.2 trillion reais in pre-salt oil royalties

A survey by Accenture Strategy Energy, based on data from the National Petroleum Agency (ANP), revealed that the still untapped oil and gas reserves in the country, which amount to 20 billion barrels, the pre-salt can yield to the Brazil at least 1.2 trillion reais in royalties and taxes.

The pre-salt, so far, has already produced 400 billion reais in benefits to the government. However, according to the Consultancy, the exploration of these areas of the pre-salt must have more competitive rules that include reduction of demand for local content, as well as more simplified taxation.
