Brasilcom aims to postpone sale of Petrobras refineries

The Association of Fuel Distributors (Brasilcom) has proposed to the Administrative Council of Economic Defense (Cade), a body that oversees abuses of economic power, the temporary suspension of the sale of Petrobras refineries, according to Reuters. The oil company is in an advanced process of negotiation of some refineries, such as Rlam in Bahia. The sale of refineries (there are eight in total) is part of the state's movement to focus on pre-salt oil production.

Brasilcom represents 46 Brazilian fuel distributors, but among them are not the giants of the market. According to the association, in this sale process measures are needed to ensure healthy competition.

The proposal provides for Cade to establish transitional rules for the sales process to resume, protecting the distribution market.
