Cade authorizes purchase of thermoelectric by Shell and homeland Infra FIP

On Tuesday, September 4, Cade (Administrative Council for Economic Defense) approved the purchase of slice of the thermoelectric Valley Azul II, by Shell Brasil and homeland Infrastructure (investment fund in Homeland Equity FIP). The order of the decision was published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU). The project will operate in Macaé, Rio de Janeiro.

The homeland FIP will acquire along with the current controller Mitsubishi Hitachi power Systems Americas, a cameo in the Blue Energy Marlin, won at auction made last year for the construction of the thermoelectric Valley Blue II, with capacity of 466 Megawatts.

According to Cade's direction, there is an agreement between Shell and Homeland FIP to explore together a joint venture for the project. The organ even reported that, probably the gas supply to the thermoelectric will be generated by Shell.

In addition to being one of the main companies in the petroleum sector, with this decision, Shell is walking in broad steps to develop also in the energy industry in Brazil.
