Onerous assignment: Government supports Serra project

Despite the record collection in the megaauction of the onerous assignment, the director general of the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), Décio Oddone, said Petrobras’ preference inhibited other oil companies from participating in the auction. Therefore, the government decided to support the project of Senator José Serra (PSDB-SP), which eliminates the polygon of pre-salt and the right of preference of Petrobras.

According to the Secretary of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels from the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), Renata Isfer, the government will study the end of production sharing: “The sharing scheme collects more than concession, but it only makes sense when they are very expressive volumes. In addition the model itself removes investors. Let’s do concrete studies, improvement of auctions to see if it is the case to end the sharing, to improve attractiveness,” he said.

Last Wednesday (6), the auction had record revenue r$ 69.96 billion and Petrobras won sales bids for the Buzios and Itapu, located in the Santos Basin.
