Electricity consumption increased 6% in March compared to the same period a year earlier, according to data from the Energy Research Company (EPE). Consumption reached 43,447 gigawatt hours (GWh), representing the highest level ever seen since 2004.
According to the survey, the March result was driven by the recovery of energy consumption by industries, since most of them were affected in the last year with the onset of the pandemic. Industries thus recorded an increase of 11.3% in March this year, compared to the same period in 2020.
