Contracts of exploratory blocks in the Pernambuco-Paraíba basin are suspended by ANP

The National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) disclosed that it will suspend the contracts of the exploratory blocks PEPB-M-783 and PEPB-M-839, in the Pernambuco-Paraíba basin, after Ibama has not manifested itself on the viability of the exploitation of Oil and gas in the region. Due to this, it was extended for 180 days the commitment of the second exploratory period of the areas from the issuance of the environmental license.

The areas were placed in the 9th round of bidding held by the ANP in 2007, and are operated by Petrobras, which has Petrogal-Galp and Sinopec as partners. The consortium never managed to get an environmental license for drilling.
