From mining to steel industry at Coim Brasil

If the economic moment by which Brazil passes is not favorable, companies have to reinvent themselves to keep their business standing. In the middle of the second consecutive year of recession, what is most seen are industries in difficulty. Others, against the flow of the tide of the crisis, take the opportunity to reinvent themselves and seek alternatives that put them back in favor of the current.

Coim Brasil – Chimica Organica Industriale Milanese, is in the second group – those who have found their way around the crisis. The multinational, relatively new in the Brazilian market, with 20 years of experience, observed a steady growth in the last decade and an increase in its collection even more accentuated since 2013.

The good phase of the company culminated in investments in cutting-edge technology and rigging of its laboratories in the order of U $500,000. The latest parts of this constant growth project of COIM are two reactors that have already had their purchases approved for the lines Glicexter and Imuthane – a contribution of U $2 million – and that start working in the first half of next year, doubling the current Productive capacity of the plant.

Allied to this, it is expected to make quality control processes even more stringent, minimizing errors and failures through the realization of increasingly assertive tests. The new machines will also open up other work possibilities that put Coim on the production front line with items that could only be imported. Altogether, the amount for the realization of all this planning revolves around the $2.5 million.

Competing in a highly segmented market and extremely sensitive to the country's economic and political changes, the numbers of the coim are even more expressive. Very close to achieving the leadership in the production market of polyurethane elastomers, the company has invested essentially in two complementary actions that have proven to result: technology and personalized service.

Innovation is part of Coim's DNA. For this reason, the technological advances and constant improvements of products and procedures put the company at the forefront of the sector: "We have made available in our portfolio the polyurethane elastomer, in spray format, which has specific use in Mining and petroleum industries. Despite the low demand compared to the spilled system, which is the traditional and encompasses most of our customers, we understand that we should be prepared for when the market responds positively again, "says Roberto Imai, business manager at Coim.

As a way to make work even more efficient, Coim has invested in the rigging of its laboratory in Vinhedo. In addition to the already traditional chemical tests, product release, the company bought equipment to perform the physical measurement of elastomers: "We have high technology that puts the test traction, abrasion, fatigue and other characteristics of our Products. This guarantees the quality for our buyer. We also carry out the identification of polyurethane by infrared. By comparing the information collected after the measurement and those registered in the database, we can recognize the specifications of the material we have in hand. This gives more clarity to the customer to buy and use the products in their projects, "explains Roberto.

In addition to being established as a benchmark in the chemical industry, COIM also stands out as a company that respects its customers. Through differentiated care and service on demand, it seeks to offer intelligent solutions for the most diverse markets that use products from the Imuthane line: "We seek to identify the needs and, in this process, learn from new applications, Development of products and forms of work. From agriculture to the footwear sector, from mining to steel. The possibilities are endless. "

It is precisely this philosophy of good care that propels the differentiated and personalized treatment of COIM to its customers. With an aftermarket that seeks to provide all the support, the company still strives to offer seminars and trainings to assist them. Periodically, improvement events are held. This type of action is unprecedented in Brazil and has a very positive return. Since it was implemented last year, more than a hundred people have accompanied this cycle of lectures. The trainings, held periodically at the headquarters of Coim in Brazil and USA, are offered at all levels of the client, from the operator who processes the Imuthane products to the managers and directors.

The care with the product extends from the sale to the final consumer and is reflected in the scope of the Coim, which contemplates the whole cycle: "All our customers are special. We even serve our customers ' customers when they have problems. An example of recognition is the invitation we received from Vale/MG every year to administer a polyurethane course focused on typical mining applications as well as to improve the knowledge of its technicians and managers in new applications.

It is the result of an excellent relationship even if it is not a direct supplier. We are happy, as this also contributes to improving the performance of our products. Our idea is to show the whole chain that COIM can always help in some way, "explains Roberto.
