Gas demand may be a reflection of water crisis

With the high demand for gas, Petrobras even imported 42 million m³ LNG (liquefied natural gas) from a stock of 109 million m³ per day. Experts believe that the growth of the import index of the material is an indication of worsening of the water crisis, since the resource is used in thermal power plants. Energy demand has been growing with the moment of industrial recovery.

In a statement, the ONS (National Electric System Operator), said that "the strong increase that has been observed in the activities of trade and services, associated with the maintenance of the high pace of production industry, has been reflected on the load performance of the Southeast/Midwest and South subsystem". Last month, the SIN (National Interconnected System) recorded an 8.1% increase in energy demand.
