Energy discount program goes uncompleted

Despite the intention to enter into office next Wednesday (1), the program that proposes discount to small residential consumers who reduce energy consumption voluntarily, continues without more information regarding the bonus.

A proposal that is still under consideration indicates a discount for those who make the reduction of 10% to 20%. There was a chance to offer bonuses of R$ 1.00 per KWh (kilowatt-hour) saved, but it was ruled out, since this would result in great loss for the financial sector of the electricity sector.

After the subsidy to large consumers who save energy voluntarily, this proposal to stimulate small consumers to also reduce consumption is another measure taken to try to mitigate the situation of the worst water crisis in the last 91 years.
