According to the Electric Energy Trading Chamber (CCEE), electricity consumption in Brazil advanced 3.3% in December 2020, compared to the same period in 2019. The data were released last Thursday (7). Also according to the CCEE, consumption was driven by the expansion of the free market.
The Chamber said that consumption in the National Interconnected System (SIN) in December reached 65,205 megawatts average (MW Med), against 63,130 MW Med in December 2019. During this period, the free environment (where large consumers can negotiate supply directly with generators or traders) registered a high of 13.4%.
