Solar energy consumers in Ceará will pay extra fee

Consumers who produce their own electricity through solar energy in Ceará began to receive charges of the Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS), in relation to the energy surplus generated. The tariff has been present in the accounts since the month of March and is already seen as undue by several producers and customers.

However, according to the State Treasury Department (Sefaz), the amount should be collected since 2015, according to national legislation. Thus, retroactive charges for the five years in which the tax was not collected by the electric company Enel should be made from now on.
