Solar power outperforms power of nuclear power plants and coal

Photovoltaic solar power has surpassed the entire sum of the installed capacity of coal-fired power plants and nuclear power plants in the country. Data show that, recently, this renewable source reached the mark of 9,000 megawatts of installed power.

According to the Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy (Absolar), solar energy has also brought more than R$ 46 billion in new investments to Brazil since 2012, in addition to having generated more than 270,000 accumulated jobs.

It is worth remembering that there is a water crisis affecting hydroelectric plants in the country, according to the National System Operator (ONS), which have worried the entire sector. Thus, the growth of photovoltaic solar energy becomes even more interesting, if we take into account the current crisis scenario experienced by the energy sector.
