EPE estimates good winds to Brazil

Preliminary studies of the EPE (Energy Research Company), linked to the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), pointed to a great potential of Brazil for the development of wind energy projects at sea, the so-called offshore plants, throughout the extension of the Zone Exclusive Economic, with emphasis on some areas on the coasts of the Northeast, Southeast and South regions.

The potential seen in the study “Offshore Wind Roadmap 2035” would be for the 697 GW generation and for winds with speed between 7 and 7.5 meters per second, and currently the country has 15.5 GW in installed wind generation capacity, but has no offshore park.

Estimates will be discussed next week in the International Congress OTC Brazil 2019.
