Rio state receives more than 445 million oil royalties

The Rio de Janeiro received in the first two months of the year 2017, a total of R $ 445 million related to oil royalties in the state. The number corresponds to about 60% of the total transferred to Brazilian states, which was R $ 739.2 million, according to data released by the National Petroleum Agency (ANP).

The municipalities of Rio obtained R $ 877 million, of which R $ 462.4 million were in Rio de Janeiro city, equivalent to 52.7% of the total. That is, if all, the first two months of 2017 have raised to the state of Rio almost $ 1 billion in royalties.

The royalty is a financial compensation due to the Union by the companies producing oil and natural gas in Brazil. In short, it would be a form of compensation to local or state population by the exploitation of these non-renewable resources.
