Exxon Mobil intends to produce oil from solar and wind energy

The North American company wants to use solar and wind energy in the production of oil in western Texas in the United States. Exxon Mobil has signed a contract with the oil company orsted A/S, located in Fredericia, Denmark.

The company intends to buy about 500 megawatts of wind and solar energy from the Permian Basin, which covers part of Texas and New Mexico. According to the company Bloomberg NEF (BNEF), this is the largest sustainable energy agreement in the world.

Since September, Exxon Mobil is looking for partnerships with renewable energies and long-term contracts and a group of investors.
