Last Friday, July 27, the ANP's board of directors approved the distribution of oil royalties for the field of Mero, in the Libra area, in the pre-salt of the Santos basin. The generation of royalties will benefit the Union, states and municipalities, especially the state of Rio de Janeiro.

According to the ANP, the allocation of resources, which has an amount of R $155 million, for the period from October 2017 to May 2018, will be carried out in accordance with articles 48 and 49 of the Law 9.478/1997 and the decision handed down by the STF in ADI (Direct action of Inconstitucion ality) No. 4,917. In this way, the list of beneficiary municipalities will be disclosed later upon completion of the process.

It is only five years since the Libra area was ourjobs by a partner led by Petrobras, but it is already yielding "fruits". The production in mere is being carried out in just one well that is conducting the long-term tests (TDI). Currently the field is the largest oil producer in the world, with a total of 56000 barrels per day of oil and gas, having surpassed a well in the field of Lula, also in the pre-salt of Santos.
