Government publishes ordinance regulating Cbios

Last Thursday (21), the government published the 419 in the Official Gazette (DOU), which regulates the market for Decarbonisation (CBIOs) – created by the national biofuels policy, correspond to one ton of carbon dioxide taken from the atmosphere by a fuel or emitted by fossil fuel.

Therefore, producers of bifuels – reducers of emissions – will market CBIOs and distributors will have to purchase them to achieve individual reduction targets, corresponding to the share of each company in the fossil fuel market.

The Ordinance that was signed by the Minister of Mines and Bento Albuquerque defines that cbios trading will not have the identification of counterparties and provides that other agents can negotiate the Titles. Under RenovaBio Law, trade should begin from 24 December of this year.
