IEA warns of global oil demand triggering

A report by the International Energy Agency (IEA) warned the petroplastic market of a possible rise in global demand for oil. According to the agency, it should take about two years for global demand to recover its pre-pandemic level of coronavirus.

However, the IEA said this level will be overcome slackly afterwards unless action is taken to protect the climate. The report was released last Wednesday (17). Fatih Birol, director of the agency, said that "our scenario, based on current policies, is that as long as governments don't take bold steps to contain demand, we won't see a ceiling."

The Petróleo 2021 report has market projections that will go until the year 2026. In the current context by 2026, demand will increase to 104 million barrels per day (mbd), or 4% more than in 2019.
