Last Wednesday (30), the substitute federal judge of the 21st Court judicial section of the Federal District, Rolando Valcir Spanholo, determined that the National Agency of Oil, Gas and Biofuels (ANP) and Ibama explain why they returned to offer blocks of oil exploration in the region of the archipelago of Abrolhos, on the coast of Bahia, in a notice published on July 21 , without informing that these blocks are the targets of judicial questioning. The judge gave ten days for that explanation. The region of the archipelago is the subject of legal proceedings due to possible environmental impacts.
In 2019, at the request of the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office, the Federal Court of Bahia ordered the Federal Court and the ANP to make public the information that the offer of the camamu-almada sedimentary basins, in the Region of Abrolhos, and the Jacuípe basins, were under the scrutiny of the Judiciary, under penalty of a fine of R$ 100,000.
According to Ibama, in case of an accident with oil spill in the region, the impacts can affect the entire southern coast of Bahia and the coast of Espírito Santo, including the entire recifal complex of banco de Abrolhos, mangroves and coral reefs, as well as fishing grounds relevant to artisanal fishing.ACESSE AS REDES DA PANORAMA OFFSHORE:
