Justice suspends sale of Plant

An injunction filed by Federal Court of Sergipe, in temporary suspended the sale of 50% of the ownership of the Plant, Petrobras, for the French oil company Total. The decision was based on the principles of legality and publicity, which according to federal judge da Silva Edmilson Pimenta, of the 3rd Federal Court of Sergipe, has been not observed even by the State.

Petrobras and Total signed a broad strategic partnership agreement in the areas of exploration and production of oil and in distribution, with a total value of US $ $2.22 billion at the end of 2016. The partnership was set in addition to the 50% of the Plant, the transfer of 25% of the area of Iara and 35% of the field operation of Lapa, in the pre-salt Santos basin.

The partnership with the Total part of the asset sale program of Petrobras, which has reached US $ $13.6 billion in 2015 and 2016. Last year, Petrobras also had other asset sales suspended by the Court of Auditors not to adopt measures that offer greater transparency and competitiveness in business. This year, the State adopted new rules consistent with the rules of the TCU.
