Karoon closes contract to take over Baúna field

A new contract for chartering and operation of the FPSO Cidade de Itajaí was closed by karoon oil company with Altera&Ocyan. The platform will operate in the Baúna field, located in the southeast of the Santos Basin. The field, previously owned by Petrobras, was acquired by the company in the last week – the sale is part of the state's dinvestment project.

It is noteworthy that the FPSO Cidade de Itajaí already operates in Baúna since 2013 and has the capacity to produce 80,000 barrels of oil daily (bpd), in addition to compressing and injecting 2 million cubic meters of gas per day. With the new agreement, the platform is expected to continue with its operation, at least until February 2026, and may renew the contract until 2028.
