According to the Municipal Development Index (IFDM), the city of Macaé is the fourth in the state of Rio de Janeiro as a quality of life. Right is directly linked to the fact that the municipality is one of the largest producers of oil and gas in Brazil.
Responsible for the economic movement of Macaé, the Santos Basin is considered the largest oil reserve of the Platform Continental Brazilian, with 44 fields in operation. Today, under the responsibility of Petrobras, the basin is generating several jobs in the region besides being responsible for about 84% of national oil production.
More than that, the city is also the largest hub processor of natural gas, with a capacity of 19.7 million cubic meters of gas per day through the Cabiúnas Terminal. The facility is also responsible for 16% of the flow of oil produced in the Campos Basin to duque refineries Caxias (Reduc), in Rio de Janeiro, and Gabriel Passos (Regap), in Minas Gerais. The existence of the pre-salt and the installation of a petrobras' new headquarters in Macaé were also strong drivers for the income generation in the city. Currently, in addition to the state- owned enterprise, offshore companies are present in the municipality, such as Shell, Chevron, BP, Transocean and others.ACESSE AS REDES DA PANORAMA OFFSHORE:
