Learn the advantages of biofuels in the environment

Fuels are the raw materials responsible for energy production. They are divided into two categories: fossils – originated from the decomposition of organic waste: oil, coal, natural gas, waste – and biofuels – produced from biomass, a more sustainable alternative compared to fossil fuels.

Biofuels are renewable energy sources that can be of animal origin – using pig fat or chicken for biodiesel production, for example – or vegetable – babassu, beetroot, sugarcane, corn, soybeans, among other crops, and from them bioethanol is produced, and biomass that generates energy.

Like fossil fuels, biofuels also generate CO2 from their combustion, but the difference that makes them more sustainable is in their production: because they are fuels that originate from vegetables, for their manufacture it is necessary to plant or plant extraction in natura. Thus, there is compensation for gases emitted in the production.

According to the National Petroleum Agency (ANP), Brazil is currently the pioneer country in the use of biofuels, with about 45% of the energy and 18% of renewable fuels.
