Mature oil fields auctions begin tomorrow

Tomorrow, May 11, will begin the auction season areas for oil and natural gas exploration in the country. In this first round, the national petroleum Agency (ANP) ofertará about nine ancient land fields, which have already produced oil and were returned to Petrobras.  The estimated net proceeds of about R $451.505 and attractiveness in the dispute will give a preview of how the market should react in the 14th round of the auction of pre-salt and post-salt, scheduled to happen in September and October.

For the round shall be auctioned in the Espírito Santo basin areas (White crane and Mariricu River); Basin of the Recôncavo, Bahia (East, Araçás, Quiricó Valley Marail Guan and Itaparica) and Potiguar Basin, in Rio Grande do Norte (North Hill pink, Potoo and Solitary). However, only 13 companies registered and 10 are enabled to participate in the contest.

According to the PNA, the auction of these mature fields is intended to encourage the resumption of exploratory activities and stimulate the emergence of small and medium-sized oil companies in the country. However, experts say that because they are areas that have already produced enough, they will need high investment to resume production. The advantage for investors interested is that the round will not require the fulfilment of minimum percentage of local content.
