Panorama Offshore has been accompanying and reporting on the gas crisis in Mato Grosso do Sul. After the Mato Grossoan government sent Petrobras a proposal requesting an advance payment of the ICMS (Tax on the Circulation of Goods and Services) of gas, a new decision was taken.

The governor of Mato Grosso do Sul, Reinaldo Azambuja, informed that from 2019, when the contract of Petrobras with Bolivia ends, the states of the Center-West will constitute a block to make the direct purchase of the Bolivian gas.

The governors of Mato Grosso do Sul have been seeking, a few months ago, an exit with Petrobras to stabilize the revenue from the Tax on the Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS) on Bolivian gas, as the state company has suspended the pumping of Bolivian natural gas Which passes through Mato Grosso do Sul, generating a fall of 62.9% in the ICMS tax collection on natural gas in January of that year.
