Cemig (Companhia Energetica de Minas Gerais) led the auction five quotas for exploration of natural gas and petroleum in Bahia and Minas Gerais. Four in the São Francisco Basin (MG) and one in the Recôncavo Basin (BA). Reservations are expected in the areas. The auction is scheduled to take place next January 18.
According to the company, the work is still in the prospecting phase — studies and research of mineral or oil deposits — with the possibility of gas in San Francisco and oil in the Recôncavo.
Cemig holds the concession alongside three other companies, since 2008. The reference bid is R $20.5 million for the group of 24.5% of five consortia. The sale is part of a disinvestment, with the justification of balancing the public accounts.
This will be the second auction of the assets, due to the lack of proposals for the previous minimum price. Therefore, at the insistence of delivering the areas to the private sector, if the reference bid is not reached, lower values may be accepted.
