Ministry breaks down concession of energy use in São Paulo plant

The Ministry of Mines and Energy informed of the ordinance that consists in the disruption of the concession of the use of hydroelectric power plant (HPP) Tijuco Alto, where would be made the dam in the Ribeira River, located between the municipalities of Ribeira and Adrianópolis, in São Paulo. The deliberation was announced in the Official Gazette of the Union, by Ordinance 436, on October 15th.

The hydroelectric plant has about 52 km² of expansion in the Atlantic forest, and is considered as the national heritage and Natural heritage of humanity by Unesco and is located between the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais.

According to the Public Prosecutor's Office the project belonged to the Brazilian Aluminum Company (CBA) and was estimated at about R $536 million.
