MME announces gas and energy integration plan

The Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) and EPBR discussed in the 4th edition of the series "Dialogues of Transition", on the role of natural gas in a scenario of decarbonization of energy matrices. At the meeting, the Deputy secretary of oil, Natural gas and biofuels of the Ministry of Mines Energy (MME), Renata Isfer, reported that the folder will launch, today (3), a plan of integration of the Natural gas and power generation sectors.

The plan would aim to address themes for gas thermal generation such as technologies, resources, infrastructure and market design. The Secretary also recalled that the Government is preparing an auction to replace old and inefficient mills, fueled with diesel oil, with contracts winning at 2023.

In addition, the federal government should disclose this week the first report of the Monitoring Committee for the opening of the Natural gas market that controls the implementation of the actions.
