Modec must provide FPSO to Equinor for Carcará
After months of negotiation with Norwegian Equinor, sources claim modec must close a contract with the company in order to carry out studies of engineering for fpso (Floating unit of production, storage and transfer, in English, Floating Production Storage and Offloading) to be installed in the Carcará field, in the Santos Basin. With this, Modec would move to front of rival SBM Offshore, which was also trying to close a deal with Equinor.
Originally, the Norwegian company planned to announce the winner of the negotiation by the end of October, but the deadline was extended by a few more days and the announcement may come at any time. If Modec can the agreement in the Carcará field, will be another FPSO contract in Brazil and the first with Equinor in the country.
Carcará FPSO will be operated by Equinor and the first would be scheduled for the year 2024. The floating unit will be connected to 20 development wells, 12 of which are oil producers, four gas injectors and four water injectors.
