New gas law is sanctioned without vetoes

The new Regulatory Framework of Natural Gas (Law 14.134) received presidential sanction of Jair Bolsonaro in the same way that it was finalized in the National Congress, and was published in the Official Gazette last Friday (9).

The bill was approved by the Senate in December last year, and the vote in the House was completed in March this year. The new gas law will replace the current legislation, in addition to regulating the transportation, treatment, processing, storage, liquefied, regasification and commercialization of natural gas in Brazil.

The framework also aims to open the market to new companies, in order to generate competition and, consequently, defocus Petrobras' monopoly on the production, import and processing of the product.
