New gas law gains approval in the chamber

Last Wednesday (23), the Mine and Energy Commission (CME) of the Chamber of Deputies approved the substitutive for the New Gas Law Project (PL 6407/2013), by Silas Câmara (Republicans/AM). The text amends the norms laid down in law 11,909 of March 2019, which determines the rules for the natural gas market in the country.

Article 45 was overthrown by the Commission, through an application by Paulo Ganime (Novo/RJ). According to the deputy, the article conflicts with what is the primary objective of the gas law, the opening of the market. His position was also defended by Joaquim birdie (PSD/PA) and Lucas Gonzalez (Novo/MG).

The new gas law has rules for access to the Infrastructure, new models of transport contracts and establishes the regime Authorisation for the construction of new pipelines.

The project can now go to the commission of Economic development, industry, trade and services (CDEICS) of the board or If it is approved urgently, it will proceed to vote in plenary.
