Novelty expands power generation capacity

Developed by researchers at the National University of Incheon in South Korea, the new design of transparent photovoltaic devices (TPV) will expand the capacity of solar power generation from the integration of solar cells to objects such as windows, vehicles, cell phone screens and other everyday products.

Such transparent cells will be able to harness ultraviolet rays, invisible to the naked eye, which would allow them to be applied to objects without interfering with their functionality, according to the researchers.

The novelty was presented in an article published this month in the journal Nano Energy.
