Oil could create 26,000 new jobs in Rio

According to the Oil Yearbook in Rio 2020, a survey recently launched by the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan), the state of Rio de Janeiro is expected to receive about 26,000 new jobs generated by the oil industry by the year 2024. This is due to the resumption of investments in the sector.

The study researches 200 new wells in areas bid from 2017 in Rio de Janeiro waters. In addition, investments are about R$ 2 million billion in infrastructure and refining in Campos dos Goytacazes, in the North fluminense state, which will be responsible for the new wave of jobs until 2024.

Also according to the study, oil production in Rio de Janeiro advanced, reaching the mark of 81% of national production in July 2020, even though pandemic. In turn, oil production grew by about 23% in the compared to the same period in 2019. It is worth remembering that only Rio accounted for 45% of the jobs in the oil supply chain.
