OPEC: Chief assesses political change as unlikely

"Opec is very likely to do what it has often done in the past: postpone a decision involving changes in the current system until things become clearer," said the head of the oil industry and market at the International Energy Agency (IEA). Neil Atkinson on Tuesday (3) during a S&P Global Platts conference in London.

"There are many uncertainties, including the outlook for "shale" in the United States," said Atkinson, who assessed the changes as unlikely and stressed that he was giving an opinion, not a recommendation.
