Pandemic does CNPE postpone oil auctions to 2021 and 2022

The National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) approved the resolution authorizing the postponement of oil auctions in the country, in the exploration area, to 2021 and 2021. The official statement was made by the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

The postponement, which was authorized last Tuesday (18), is due to the uncertainties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. It is worth remembering that the 17th round of bidding for areas of the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) was scheduled to happen in November, while the 18th would occur in 2021.

In addition, the council that brings together authorities for decisions on the energy sector also passed a resolution. This establishes mandatory annual emission reduction targets for the fuel trading sector, within the scope of the RenovaBio incentive program for biofuels.
