Pandemic causes layoffs in Saudi Aramco

Oil giant Saudi Aramco has begun a series of layoffs over the crisis generated by the new coronavirus. According to sources, this month alone, the company has laid off hundreds of employees. Most of the closed vacancies were occupied by foreigners, according to the sources. In more, the company has about 70,000 employees.

Like other oil companies, Aramco has also made year-round spending cuts, given the unprecedented drop in oil demand that has collapsed the market. Energy companies around the world have also reduced their workforces in response to the crisis. It is known that other large companies in the P&G sector have reduced their teams by between 10% and 15% to cut spending and as part of restructuring plans.
